In her new book, Welcome to the Sh*t Show: A Memoir of Colorectal Cancer and the Power of Self-Advocacy, Shannon details how she navigated the health system on her own while working full-time and taking care of her 7-year-old son.
With colorectal cancer now the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in people under 50, Shannon urges people to learn the symptoms and go see a doctor if they notice any changes to their body.
