Columbia, SC, March 1, 2024 – University of South Carolina Press, one of the oldest and most distinguished publishing houses in the South, is pleased to announce its strategic partnership with Southeastern Book Travelers, an esteemed independent sales organization specializing in book sales in the Southeast. Effective May 1, 2024, Southeastern Book Travelers will represent the Press to bookstore accounts in the region. Columbia University Press will no longer represent USC Press in the Southeast and all other US territories.

The partnership aims to strengthen USC Press’s position in the Southeastern US market, leveraging Southeastern Book Travelers’ expertise and relationships with key accounts. Through this collaboration, both parties are confident in their ability to maximize visibility and accessibility for USC Press's catalog of notable books.

“We are excited to join forces with Southeastern Book Travelers to bring our exceptional books to an even broader audience in the Southeast,” said Cathy Esposito, USC Press marketing and sales director. “Their deep understanding of the market, established relationships, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our mission to provide high-quality books to readers in this vibrant and diverse region.” Esposito noted that, with the termination of the Columbia University Press agreement, she will now represent the Press to the remaining US territories and Barnes and Noble. Esposito will continue to represent the Press to South Carolina accounts.

Southeastern Book Travelers president and owner Chip Mercer expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to work hand-in-hand with USC Press. Our team is dedicated to showcasing the exceptional content USC Press has to offer, and we believe this partnership will bring immense value to our clients and customers in the Southeastern US.”
